Diamonds

imageWhile sitting on a tram to Dublin city, a few days ago, I was listening to a meditation track by Almine and my thoughts strayed to Gerry, my recently deceased brother in law. I thought about the fact that he had been cremated. His physical body no longer exists as we know it.
I started to think about how the physical body is such an awesome and holy temple, a vehicle through which we express in this reality and how we never seem to recognise and acknowledge this truth, with every single being we are in contact with, whether on the bus, train, in a cafe, on the street, within our family, our friends, ourself.
Suddenly, while integrating this incredible realisation, I saw a vision of myself. I contracted to one single cell of my body, my first cell, my original cell.
I looked within the cell and saw the whole of existence within this incredible miracle, this one single cell; my entire body, a glorious composition of trillions of cells, flowers, trees, the earth and all it’s inhabitants, the sky, the heavens, a multitude of stars, glittering the night sky- countless eyes of the night.
Each of us is an inconceivably brilliant miracle of such magnitude, capable of such profound and beautiful creations, manifestations, deeds, art, music.
We have forgotten to honour the profound miracle that is the holiness of our self.
Remembrance of this truth is a gift of self love that none outside of ourself could ever hope to give us, or express with any words.
Remembrance of this tears down imagined walls, boundaries and identities of who we are based on the clothes we wear, the money in our pocket, the house we live in, the job we have, the people we know, the country in which we reside, our religion.
All of existence, within one cell, within the Infinite, contained.
Gods and goddesses, we are, All one.
How could we ever think a disrespectful thought about ourselves or another?
A profound miracle we are.
Had I diamonds in my hand, would I toss them away, cast them aside? Would I disregard the stars, the diamonds of night, within the palm of my hand.
Had I a babe in my arms, would I not nurture and love him and sing him sweet songs.
We are all that we see, hear, experience and equally we are none if it, for we cannot be defined by anything. Let us love ourself.
We Are the babe in our arms. We Are the diamonds in the palm of our hands.
